Behind the Books
The real life (and coffee) behind the pages

The Heart Behind Every Page
Ever wonder what’s really happening behind the screen when a new book goes live? Spoiler: It’s usually me — messy bun, oversized hoodie, cold coffee, and a pile of notebooks trying to keep their secrets.
I’m Karen — a puzzle maker, proud special needs mama, and a relentless believer in the power of stories and simple tools to make life easier and more meaningful. What started as a way to meet a need for my own child has become something much bigger: a chance to create resources that truly support other families like mine.
You see, every book I create starts with one question:
Would this have helped me when I needed it most?
If the answer is yes, I dive in — even if that means squeezing in editing between IEP meetings, late-night laundry loads, and “Mom, look!” dance performances in the kitchen.
Behind every logbook, activity, and word search is a moment — sometimes joyful, sometimes chaotic — that inspired it. Whether it’s a breakthrough moment with Jimmy, a conversation with another parent, or a wild idea while walking the dog, every book is a piece of real life turned into something hopeful and helpful.
Why share this?
Because you deserve to know there’s a real person behind these pages.
Someone who gets the daily juggle. Someone who cheers for small wins and knows just how big they actually are. Someone who believes in creating things that work, not just fill shelves.
This blog series will take you behind the scenes — the wins, the flops, the coffee-fueled ideas that somehow became bestsellers (and the ones that didn’t). You’ll see my process, my why, and my heart — unfiltered and full of hope.
Thanks for letting me into your world.
I’m honored to be a small part of yours.
